What kind of oil 2005 jetta

The people who made those manuals are morons. Trust me on this. I work for VW. The only Jetta that does not use 5w40 is the Diesels. They use fully synthetic 5w30 but it's a special kind of oil. And the new 2.

I think that may be 40 weight. I've been using 10w regular oil. Only one oil change since I got the car. Bought it used. Can I still go to 5W synthetic? What about the filter too. Fram or no You want to stick with 5w30 synthetic. Reason why is your engine is prone to engine sludge. This is recommended by my dealership.

Also, stick with VW oil filters. They just work better for sludge protection. A quick note: Properly warm-up your engine before driving. This will prolong it's vulnerable life! I tend to go with history and 5w I have not had any problem with this ever with any vehicle. Also, if you start going beyond the owners manual your engine warranty could be voided if you started having engine trouble. Stick with your manufacture recommendations.

Same oil. These engines call for an oil change every miles. For cold weather, dusty conditions or severe heat like in the desert change oil every miles. This is a perfect grade oil. It pumps quick and distributes well in all weather conditions.

Do not use fram filters. Get the VW one. Fram is garbage. There is an article about a group of people dissecting a bunch of different filters before and after. Log in. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding.

Thread starter Threewheelin Start date Aug 18, Threewheelin Veteran Member. I just bought a Jetta and I live in upstate NY. What viscocity oil should I be using? I have heard that PD engines are picky. Im going to use Total ineo oil ,does anyone want to chime in and tell what kind of oil test results they have had with this oil?

Also what would be the best lube for 5 speed transmission change. I am hoping someone with a high milage 04 or 05 TDI Jetta will give me wisdom as to what has worked for them. Thanks to all. Ive kearned a lot from you guys and hope my learning curve doesnt flatline on diesels as its been 20 years since my last diesel VW.

Both are 5w Unless you want to crack the motor open and start replacing things. GoFaster Moderator at Large. Use 5w Your camshaft and lifters will thank you for it. Don't use 5w30, even if it says it meets VW TornadoRed Top Post Dawg. Threewheelin said:. You'll still have to do the cam and lifters.
